Just a quick posting…

The dinghy Gracie enjoys the calm before the storm

The dinghy Gracie enjoys the calm before the storm

….  We are under way again, at least for a couple days!  Bad weather extended our stay in Solomons, MD significantly: an Atlantic seaboard storm spilled over into the Chesapeake, creating high winds, higher waves and generally not-nice boating weather!! So, we stayed, snug and warm in our slip at Spring Cove Marina for an extra 5-6 days while the winds howled, the waves splashed, and the temperatures dropped into the high 30’s!!

Today was the first reasonable weather day and though we had made alternative plans with rental cars and hotel rooms, we decided to boat to Norfolk in time to catch our plane to San Diego, warm weather AND our niece Megan’s wedding!!  We ventured out early this morning and found clear skies, 15-20 knot winds and waves, abit bigger (4 ft) than we’d like, but all-in-all, a good day on the Chesapeake!   The entry to the Bay and the Bay itself were filled with sailboats- of every size and dimension!! It seems many had decided today was the day to move on out!!!

For us, tomorrow is a short run into Norfolk and all predictions indicate more sun, higher temperatures and smaller waves!  Our water adventure will resume in about 10 days and we’ll return to chronicling at that point!
